Our Founders

Lifefactory was born in 2007 when pediatric feeding specialist, Pam Marcus, and integrative designer,
Daren Joy, joined together to develop a line of health-minded, design-forward baby bottles.
The Company has grown and the product line has expanded but the purity of their original vision remains.

For 17 years Pam was a pediatric physical therapist and feeding specialist at Oakland’s Kaiser Hospital. She is an expert on infant development, trained to observe and measure an infant’s key milestones including motor-physical, growth, social and language skills. Pam grew concerned about the prevalence of harmful chemicals and plastics in the systems that feed and hydrate children at their most vulnerable stages. After years of wondering why there weren’t healthy and innovative alternatives for families, she helped create Lifefactory.

As an award-winning integrative designer and architect, Daren has an innate sense of aesthetic, proportion and style that is both cutting-edge and familiar. Daren begins his designs by deciphering how objects and environments affect one’s overall well-being, allowing his work to appeal to a wide range of physical and emotional senses. Daren’s designs won Metropolitan Home Magazine’s Home of the Year contests in 1996 and 2005. As a father of three, Daren has grown even more committed to the environment and a holistic view of health. With that in mind, he joined Pam and brings his passion for life and design to Lifefactory.
